Economic abuse

The media likes to push stories of the super obese child abused by a parent who failed by commision or omission. The abuse of our economy is very similar in many respects. For the sake of clarity we'll name the current economy Sam. When Sam doesn't exert himself he becomes slow out of shape unable to compete. That big kid named Ping (China) is constantly giving Sam an atomic economic wedgie. The parent (Washington) is quick to reasure Sam that he is moraly superior to Ping, then hands Sam a box of HoHos to eat while playing his ps2 in the a/c. Ping works a job after school and when he gets home studies to improve himself. The parent shields Sam from meanial tasks and promote sloth. This is our economic story in a nutshell. Washington abuses our economy with regulation. The parellels are numerous

You can't eat paperwork.

Well I guess you could but you might end up in that Philadelphia medical museum along side the soap woman.( You really don't want to know about the soap woman) When the GD1 came along we had a manufacturing base. We made shoes, clothing, and electronics you know thing necessary for life. Now that GD2 is incubating we find ourselves importing a great deal of the manufactured goods we need. What has taken root in place of manufacturing? An economy in retreat based on service. We still raise the food for ourselves and for export. The powers that be would have us believe that farm production is at unsustainable levels.( If I hear the word sustainable again that person might find their teeth in Q-town) I farm. I'll leave farming to another blog. Why don't we manufacture? Their are many obstacles to our being competative with other nations.(I would write industrialize but that doesn't wash) America has barely tapped it's potential but the freedom to produce goods has been regulated to the point of a pin. Other countries do not have embedded costs. Regulation, corporate tax, compliance costs, liability and withholding have been mostly to blame. If you haven't guessed by now I AM A FAIR TAX SUPPORTER! The fair tax will give us the framework for economic revival. We are on the razors edge. We can slide into oblivion or we can build the future our legacy requires.
